From 2018, the Serb National Council Culture Department organize the program “The Cinema is Open Again”, an event dedicated to the film art, in cooperation with the cinema Tuškanac, the Yugoslav Film Archive and the Embassy of Republic of Serbia in Zagreb. The idea behind this event, whose title is borrowed line from the cult movie “The Marathon Family”, was to present contemporary movie production, and also the history of film in Serbia from the Yugoslav period. In 2018, in the program under previous title, “Days of Serbian film”, held in the cinema Tuškanac, seven movies were shown, from newly restored copies of canonical works of Serbian cinematography to recent titles: “I Even Met Happy Gypsies” (1967), “Requiem for Mrs. J” (2017), “The Other Side of Everything” (2017), “Who’s Singin’ Over There?” (1980), “Special Education” (1977), “Train Driver’s Dairy” (2016), “When I Am Dead and Gone” (1967).
In 2019, the program has been dedicated to the actress Milena Dravić, and nine of her movies were shown: “The Ambush” (1969), “The Morning” (1967). “The Girl” (1965), “Rondo” (1966), “Man is Not a Bird” (1965), “W. R.: Mysteries of the Organism” (1971), “Special Treatment” (1980), “Deps” (1974) and “It Isn’t Easy to Get Along with Men” (1985). In the side program, the book, “Između svetova” (Between Worlds) by Dragan Dimičić was launched in the City Library Bogdan Ogrizović.
After the break caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the program continued in cooperation with the cinema Tuškanac, the Yugoslav Film Archive and the Embassy of Republic of Serbia in Zagreb, and in 2022 it was dedicated to actress Sonja Savić. Eight famous Yugoslav movies were shown in which Sonja featured, and in the side program an exhibition, “The City Girl”, by the Čačak’s Art Gallery Nadežda Petrović was held.
In 2023, the program entitled “The Cinema is Open Again – TV film in the cinema” was realized in cooperation with the cinema Tuškanac and the Embassy of Republic of Serbia in Zagreb, and thanks to wholehearted support of the Public Service Media Radio Television of Serbia. Eighteen TV films or TV dramas were shown from the end of 1960s to the beginning of 1990s and produced by the Radio Television Belgrade, predecessor of the Radio Television of Serbia.
