In the presence of the Mayor of Petrinja, Darinko Dumbović, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Head of the Civil Protection Headquarters tasked with alleviating the effects of the earthquake, Boris Milošević, the President of the Serbian National Council, Milorad Pupovac, opened a humanitarian service point in Petrinja on January 15 as a part of the humanitarian drive “Banija is our house”. The service point includes containers which will serve as headquarters for the volunteers engaged in humanitarian activity in the area and the parson of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Petrinja Saša Umićević. This will enable better coordination of all activities in the field in direct communication with the affected citizens of Banija. A similar service point will be opened in Glina net week.

This morning the Serb National Council donated five wood stoves to families in Gornja Bačuga and delivered delivered 500 pairs of rubber boots to the Red Cross. Another 1000 pairs of rubber boots will arrive next week. The boots, an essential item for citizens of Banija, are acquired by the Serb National Council from the footwear manufacturer “Tigar” from Pirot for an affordable price.

So far the humanitarian drive „Banija is our house” has raised 740,000 kuna and almost 180,000 euro.
